Golfing Etiquette

Etiquette. It's part of what makes the game of golf fun for everyone. Learning and allowing yourself to follow the principles of golf etiquette can enhance the game tremendously. To practice etiquette on the golf course requires the golfer to be aware of his or her environment at all times.

Developing this awareness usually results in a friendly atmosphere on the course, faster play, and a more beautiful course on which to play.

In an effort to promote golf etiquette we'll bring etiquette advice to this page so that you can refer to it any time.

Please remember, repairing ballmarks and replacing divots not only helps the greenskeeper, it keeps the course at its best so that others who follow you can enjoy the same experience.

Here are some Golfing Etiquette Guidelines.

1. Replace all divots.
2. Repair ball marks on the greens.
3. Play 'ready' golf (i.e. whoever is ready should play their ball).
4. Record your scores on the next tee, not on the green.
5. Place your litter in waste containers.
6. If your group has slowed down, allow the group behind to play through if there is space ahead.
7. Refrain from talking too much during play.
8. While others are hitting or putting, stand quietly and safely away.
9. Never throw your clubs on the course.
10. Leave your equipment outside of the bunkers and off of the greens.
11. If you play from a bunker, rake the sand when you're finished.
12. Keep power carts away from tee boxes and greens.
13. Drive power carts with caution.
14. Yell 'FORE' if your ball is headed toward another group.
