Esmerelda Golf Course

One of the four Spokane Parks & Recreation Golf Courses in Washington, Esmeralda Golf Course is located in the northeast of town.If you're looking to improve your game without losing tons of golf balls, this is the place to start.

It's the perfect spot for beginners and seniors looking to lower their scores and enhance their skills.

Constructed in 1956, Esmeralda provides open space and flat fairways. The landscape is gorgeous, and the accent of 2,000+ trees gives the experience a more "outdoorsy" appeal. Today, Esmeralda Golf Course is considered a confidence boost to a golfer's ego. Breaking 100 can be quite easy, even for a 1st time player. However, avid golfers will find it difficult to break par.

Total Distance The length of the course is only 6,249 yards, which makes this the perfect choice for those without big clubs in the bag. The first hole always gives you a sense of what to expect the rest of the day

The Championship tees are only 402 yards in distance, while the White tees are 19 yards shorter. Women's tees are set around 368 yards for this par 4. The hole itself is straight away, but be careful of the out-of-bounds on the left hand side.

Tip: If you want to help yourself with distance, try hitting your tee shot to the right hand side. A good one will end up in the middle of the fairway. Even if you want to play it safe, keep it in the fairway and you can reach the green in two.

The Rest of Esmeralda Golf Course

While the course is flat for the most part, it does offer its challenges throughout the day. You will quickly notice that there are a substantial amount of doglegs, even though they are only slight ones. This presents obstacles for any golfer, especially the mental part of the game.

Tip: When you're in doubt about a dogleg, don't try to make the miraculous shot. Those who are patient usually come out on top when the round is over.

Tee Times

Call ahead if you want to have a convenient tee time. The Esmeralda Golf Course will also guarantee your time with a credit card. Just remember that the course opens up play Monday-Friday after 2pm. Therefore, for those that work 1st shift, there is no need for a tee time during the week. However, if you plan to play on the weekend or a holiday, tee times must be made at least 8 days in advance.

Pricing

Greens and cart fees will vary based on the time and day you choose. Here is a list of Downriver Golf Course's current fees:

* 18 Holes Monday-Thursday $27
* 18 Holes Friday-Sunday, and Holidays $29
* 9 Holes Monday-Thursday $20
* 9 Holes Friday-Sunday, and Holidays $29

Junior rates are also available for 9 and 18 holes. Weekly rates are $12, while weekend and holiday rates are $22

Discounts

If you plan on playing Esmeralda or any of the other Spokane Parks & Recreation golf courses, it's wise to purchase a discount membership for $35. It will allow you to pay $20 for 18 holes Monday-Thursday and $23 on the weekends or holidays.
